（1）始终致力于环境地质和水资源研究，拥有三十多年丰富经验，特别在矿山水文地质、岩溶环境地质方面建树颇丰，与同行合作编著环境及水资源工程和矿山安全方面参考书或专集10部，发表在国际核心刊物 Environmental Earth Sciences（环境地球科学）, Ground Water（地下水）, Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering（岩石力学和岩石工程）, Mine Water and the Environment(矿井水和环境)， Environmental Geology（环境地质），Engineering Geology(工程地质）的学术论文70余篇。研究成果被中国和国际学者引用上千次。
（2）为美国能源部建立了矿区环境风险评估方法，并在美国多个州（Maryland, Tennessee, California, Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania) 和加拿大、科威特、沙特阿拉伯等国进行了实际应用，评估效果显著，使矿山安全运行持续多年无不良环境影响。
（3）开创有效地治理受有机物和重金属污染的土壤和地下水的新技术，有效加快环境修复净化过程，成为美国国防部力推使用的高新环保技术，成功将多个美国废弃矿山和军事基地的环境修复时间大幅度缩短，更降低修复成本。
（4）设计并安装北美线性工程（州际公路、I-70、I-75、I-40、铁道和输油天然气管道）地质灾害预警系统，灾害预警系统大量使用远程检测技术，目前仍在良好的运行中。
（5）领导并主持了全美第一次公路径流对地下水影响的全面调查，为美国治理公路污染提供了大量有效依据，所设计开发的原位制污法至今仍是美国公路设计主要方法之一。
（6）开创探测和监测地下水流动和水质的物探、化探技术和方法，在水源识别、水流探查和水质原位测试方面具有非常广阔的应用前景。
（7）制造首个美国环境保护署岩溶区废物堆放场地（landfills)地下水监测统计评价的方法和软件，得到美国环境保护署高度评价并在California、Indiana、Pennsylvania、Tennessee、Kentucky多州得到全面推广和使用。
（8）最早使用可视微模型研究有机物在含水层中运移，降解过程并进行数值模拟裂隙介质多相流，为美国重新制订Superfund有关政策条例提供了可靠真实的证据。
（9）和美国Florida,、Pennsylvania、Tennessee等多州合作，为建立地质灾害的保险、应急机制提供技术指导，并在州政府议会听证会上做专家论证，为减灾、治灾提供技术援助，践行社会责任。
